Scope of SMEs

Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Basic Act
Act No. 154 of 1963: Amended in December 3, 1999

(1)Manufacturing
construction
transportation
other industries
(excluding (2)to(4) )
Any entity which is a company
whose capital or total amount of investment does not exceed ¥300 million ,
or a company or an individual
whose regular workforce does not exceed 300 persons
(2)Wholesale Any entity which is a company
whose capital or total amount of investment does not exceed ¥100 million ,
or a company or an individual
whose regular workforce does not exceed 100 persons
(3)Service Any entity which is a company
whose capital or total amount of investment does not exceed ¥50 million,
or a company or an individual
whose regular workforce does not exceed 100 persons
(4)Retail Any entity which is a company
whose capital or total amount of investment does not exceed ¥50million,
or a company or an individual
whose regular workforce does not exceed 50 persons


Enterprises ,Workers and Manufacturing Value added in SME sector


SMEs make up 99.7% of enterprise, approximately 70 % of employment and approximately 50% of manufacturing value added.
